Population Growth and Property Demand

The region’s population (Caloundra City, Maroochy Shire and Noosa Shires) has grown from just over 60,000 in 1976 to more than 290,000 today and is still growing at a rate of 3.6% per annum. *Midwood Report November 2005. The combination of lifestyle, climate and accessibility will see around 9,000 new people move to the Sunshine Coast each year and as a result, the region’s population is expected to grow to around 485,000 by 2026. Population projections prepared by the Queensland Government’s Planning Information and Forecasting Unit (PIFU) estimates that the Sunshine Coast will grow at an average rate of 2.7% for the next 26 years. This rate is higher than both Brisbane and the Gold Coast projections and 1% higher than the projections for South East.

Kawana Waters

Kawana Waters is regarded as a microcosm of what the Sunshine Coast is all about.
