Golturkbuku Estate Agents: Properties for Sale in Turkey
With their recent amalgamation into a single municipality
the former villages of Turkbuku and Golkoy are now often referred
to as Golturkbuku or Gol-Buk. Located on the site of ancient
Caryanda, the home Scylax, a pioneer navigator who explored
the coast of the western Indian Ocean in the 6th century B.C.,
today's Gol-Buk is the favourite summer holiday venue for many
many well-off and well-known Turks.
The Golkoy end of the large bay is quiet and restrained, while
Turkbuku caters to the more flamboyant. The shore of the latter
is lined with numerous restaurants, many with their own jetties
which are used for sunbathing in daytime and with tables and
chairs replacing sunbeds and towels, for dining at night. Watching
the splendid full moon rise from behind the mountains across
the bay is almost a religious rite here.
If you come from Torba and go through the village down to the
seaside you pass through the land of mandarins on
your right and left. We are talking about the scented Bodrum
mandarins that give a different taste and smell to a gin and
tonic when you cut a slice when not ripe yet.
Golturkbuku, with its long beach, small hotels, restaurants
and bars is very colourful. There are several fish restaurants
with brought piers set up for sun worshippers. A cool breeze
blows most afternoons.
The road to Bodrum from Bodrum International Airport (located
40 km from the city) is in excellent condition and International
flights are available throughout the year. There are charter
flights starting March through October from most major European
cities at very reasonable prices
